On a recent trip to Hannaford’s and the Brattleboro Food Co-op in Brattleboro, VT, our Savvy Organic Shopper discovered great deals on ingredients for holiday baking. She found Simply Organic vanilla extract (2 oz.) on sale for $7.49. Conventional vanilla extract sold for $7.29. Additionally, she found 2 organic pie crusts on sale for $2.99. The same number of natural pie crusts was on sale for $3.39. She also found organic pumpkin pie mix (15 oz.) on sale for $1.99, while the conventional equivalent was priced at $1.53. So, by spending just 26 cents more to buy organic, our Savvy Organic Shopper was able to enjoy the benefits of products made without the use of artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. What could be sweeter?!
