Over the weekend, our Savvy Organic Shopper had a hankering for one of her all-time favorite food combinations: fresh blueberries served up with a little heavy cream. She didn’t have any blueberries in the house, so she decided she would go to the store first thing this morning to get some. Her timing couldn’t have been better. She walked into her local Whole Foods Market and discovered that the company was having a 1-day, nationwide sale on organic blueberries. A pint of berries was just $1.99! Given the incredible price and the fact that she’d just seen USDA’s new pesticide data showing that conventionally grown blueberries are among the most heavily pesticide-laden fruits, our Savvy Organic Shopper had only one decision to make: how many pints of organic blueberries would she take home?
